A brief history of Elizabeth Tower to accompany my stock images
- Elizabeth Tower named after Queen Elizabeth II during Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee year was formerly known just as the "Clock Tower" but was more commonly referred to as "Big Ben" or "Great Bell".
- Big Ben or the Great Bell (Great Bell of Westminster) is a 14-tonne bell which chimes on the hour, every hour. It was named after Sir Benjamin Hall who was the Chief Commissioner of the works when the bell was hung in 1858.
