• The DC War Memorial commemorates the men & women from the District of Columbia who gave their lives in the First World War, it was dedicated on "Armistice Day" in 1931

• The memorial was designed by Frederick H. Brooke and also has the function of a bandstand.

• The memorial is a circular, open air, Doric structure built principally of Vermont marble and stands on a circular marble platform around which are inscribed the names of the Washington residents who died during service in World War I.
