The White House the President's House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

A brief history;

 

 

  • The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States and is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

 

  • The President's House (The White House) was designed by irish-born James Hoban in the Neoclassical style and made from Aquia Creek sandstone painted white. It was completed in 1800, with President John Adams becoming it's first inhabitant.

 

  • This gallery showcases the northern (Pennsylvania Avenue) facade and North Portico of "The White House" which faces on to Pennsylvania Avenue & Lafayette Square (President's House) including it's beautifully maintained North Lawn and North Fountain known affectionately as the President's Front Yard.
