A brief history of Theodore Roosevelt Island & memorial plaza to accompany Liberty Photo Art's DC stock photography

• Theodore Roosevelt Island is a 91-acre island of marshlands, nature trails and provides a safe haven for a wide variety of wildlife. The Island honours the twenty-sixth, President of the United States and conservationist, Theodore Roosevelt.

• The memorial plaza was designed by Eric Gugler and includes the larger-than-life size bronze statue of Theodore Roosevelt sculpted by Paul Manship, granite tablets (monoliths) with quotes from President Roosevelt & fountains.

• The Island had previously been known as; "My Lord's Island, Barbadoes Island, Mason's Island, Analostan Island & Anacostine Island.
